Brisbane Design features in latest Ridley Scott Blockbuster

The film is set in the year 2089 and in line with Ridley-Scott’s affiliation with Sci-Fi; Prometheus appears to take us to the beginning of our existence. It's not sci-fi apocalypse but sci-fi birth.
Bird’s custom created tables from his ‘Brainwash’ series appear in the one of the early scenes of the film in the “Crew Dining Hall” onboard the Prometheus Spaceship. ( below)

Jason was approached by one of the Prometheus set designers who loved the design of his existing ‘Brainwash Outdoor’ range and wanted a custom variation of the table for the futuristic Sci-Fi set. For the Luxxbox design team it was a matter of re-designing the tables to suit the scale and quantity required for the futuristic spaceship design.
The design process involved working on 3D models and rendering during the day and sending them across for review during the night, (UK day-time).
“Initially we were planning to manufacture here in Australia, however with their short lead time we ended up using some contacts in London, manufacturing there and delivering to the famous Pinewood Studios, Stanley Kubrick Building”. Said Jason.
Jason Bird said “Being asked to be involved in a film of this caliber was a dream come true. I grew up on a healthy diet of Star Wars and fell in love with the early Ridley Scott films such as Blade Runner and Alien.”
“His films ooze a new kind of sci-fi design style setting his vision apart from the rest, this in part influences my style now. So for the set designers to see my work in that league and for such a high profile, big budget project, it is all I could ever want.”
Scott, in a recent interview revealed that he is entirely creatively driven and that Prometheus is a grand visual spectacle in 3-D. It is no wonder designers from other creative genres are draw to work together like Jason Bird and Ridley Scott.
"With me it's entirely creative. I'm creatively driven; from the days of art school right through my life. I'm fortunate in that respect because I see the world in a certain way and there's beauty everywhere, there's beauty even in the industrial areas where I lived, Hartlepool, and its steelworks and things like that. So you have to see things in that particular order." Said Ridley Scott.
Increasing international demand for Luxxbox creations has seen the Brisbane born company establish a US manufacturing department in California enabling their products to now be shipped across America. Other US design retailers such as Allmodern and Module-R based in New York also stock various Luxxbox designs.
Prometheus is a science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof. The film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Charlize Theron. Set in the late 21st century, the story centers on the crew of the spaceship Prometheus as they follow a star map discovered among the remnants of several ancient Earth civilizations. Led to a distant world and an advanced civilization, the crew seeks the origins of humanity, but instead discovers a threat that could cause the extinction of the human race.
The film opens in Cinemas June 7th.
